Umdoni Municipal office in Williamson Street reopens

In an effort to ensure that members of the public are served safely, those who visit the office are urged to adhere to the precautions formulated by the municipality to combat the spread of COVID-19.

As from Monday, May 11, Umdoni Municipality has implemented a phased re-opening of the municipal office in Williamson Street, Scottburgh.

The phased re-opening follows the announcement of the easing of the national lockdown, which allows for the resumption of more services, thus requiring more employees to return to work.

In an effort to ensure that members of the public are served safely, those who visit the office are urged to adhere to the precautions formulated by the municipality to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Members of the public will be required to complete a COVID-19 health screening questionnaire and to undergo a temperature check.

The municipality will prohibit entry into the municipal building of any individual who displays signs of being COVID-19 positive.

Visitors must be disinfected when entering the municipal premises and will not be allowed to enter without face masks or a handmade cloth that covers both nose and mouth.

Social distancing must be practised while waiting to be served and people must practise strict coughing etiquette.

Umdoni Mayor, Cllr TW Dube, has said that these precautionary measures have been put in place for the benefit of both the community and the staff members

“The aim is to curb the rate of infection in every way possible and to ensure continued services. This is unfamiliar territory for our country and requires us to change our behaviour in profound ways to ensure virus-free communities. Let us save our own lives and those of others.

May the Umdoni community be safe during this time.”

The community’s co-operation would be highly appreciated.
